Shortly after Saturday’s 3-1 victory over the San Diego Padres, the Houston Astros announced they were sending RP Dan Wheeler to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in exchange for 3B Ty Wigginton.
The move shores up the third base position for the next few years, as Wigginton is under team control through the 2009 season. [...]

What an incredible day for Craig Biggio and Houston Astros fans.

Due to John Smoltz’ ailing shoulder, Roy Oswalt was able to nab a spot on the 2007 All-Star roster without winning the National League Final Vote campaign. As the 6th highest vote getter among NL starting pitchers, Oswalt received the honor when Smoltz was forced to back out.
