Dear Seth, Please Misuse Twitter More
Jul 9th, 2008 by Scott Hebert
Today I stopped following Seth Godin on Twitter!
I think Seth Godin is a really smart and funny guy. In fact, I think most people can learn something from him. His ideas on most business related topics are spot on.
That being said, what Mr. Godin is doing with Twitter just drives me up the wall. Instead of using Twitter to interact with like-minded (or not) individuals, he merely uses it to push his blog posts via twitterfeed. I have no problem with folks linking their blog posts into Twitter or Plurk — I do the same thing.
But if I just want an updated list of posts from his blog, I’d subscribe to his RSS feed. I enjoy reading his blog, so that’s exactly what I’ve done.
If you enjoy reading Seth Godin’s blog, I recommend you subscribe to the site’s RSS feed. Please don’t follow him on Twitter and encourage this sort of thing.
Thanks, and sorry for the rant.
UPDATE: As you can see below, the sethgodin user on Twitter is not THE Seth Godin. He mentioned this on his blog, but I missed it. Crisis averted.

Thanks for reading my blog.
That’s not actually me on Twitter. Someone set up that account and rebroadcasts my blog.
I posted on this a few months ago.
Sorry for any hassles, Scott.
Seth, two things:
1) Obviously I missed this post on your blog!
2) I’m glad that’s not you, and I’ll make sure to point that out to all.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
