- Another site change…
I have decided to stop using Textile for this blog. The plugins that I used were just kinda clunky and funky. I love Textile, and it’s one of the reasons that I continue to be a fan of Textpattern.
Anyway, what this all means is that there will undoubtedly be some posts on this blog that [...]
- sbh* has a new theme — maybe you noticed
In case you didn’t notice, I’ve decided to go with a new theme here on sbh*. Here’s a link to the Modio by Upstart Blogger.
“Why the new theme?”
I’m glad you asked. The more I looked at the old theme, the more crowded it felt. I have a desire to be simple, and I felt like [...]
- Momentary Downtime
Today, sbh* experienced a few moments of downtime between 12:04pm and 12:15pm CDT today as I finally upgraded to the latest version of Wordpress! Right now, I’m using Wordpress 2.5.1, which includes a new admin panel. It’s quite nice looking…a bit of a shock as I had grown so used to the old look. As [...]
- Opening Pandora’s Box
Web apps are in. I’ve spoken a bit about them in the past (e.g., in my post about Fluid, which, by the way, has seen a lot of development over the past week). Today, I’d like to highlight a music service called Pandora, which has really altered the way I listen to music over the [...]
- App Review: “Fluid” Site Specific Browser (aka SSB)
Lately, I’ve been using a fantastic little OS X app called Fluid. Essentially, this is a freestanding, lightweight, WebKit-based browser that can be used to dupe you into thinking that your favorite web apps are actually desktop applications.
I’ve been using Fluid for about three weeks now, and just thought I’d offer up my experience.
This review [...]
- Goodreads Doles Out the Goods (not the bads)
Over the last few weeks I’ve started using a web application called Goodreads (here is my profile). Essentially, this is a service that allows you to keep track of what you are reading, have read, or intend to read. Users can swap reviews and even paperbacks! There’s also a nice little Facebook application that ties [...]
- Twitter. What is it? Why should I care?
Friday is supposed to be my day to recharge in terms of writing. So, because I may not have anything else to blog about, I’m inundating this blog with cool stuff I’m playing with. Right now, I’m messing around with Twitter.
Frequently Asked Twitter Question #1: “What Is It?”
Great question! Couldn’t tell ya.
Twitter is what you [...]
- Disabling “Twitter’d” Updates
For now, I’m disabling the “Twitter’d” posts that have been appearing in this blog. This is a feature of Alex King’s excellent plugin: Twitter Tools. However, for some reason, it was posting multiple times to the blog. That’s not gonna work. Still, I’m using Twitter Tools sweet sidebar widget, and that’s a darn good thing.
